We are excited to welcome Dr. Jessica Zitter, MD, MPH, a renowned filmmaker, speaker, author, and national advocate for transforming the way people die in America. We will screen her newest award-winning documentary, Caregiver, A Love Story. followed by an exciting panel discussion. This is a FREE event, hosted by our newly chartered Northern New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Chapter (NNJ
HPNA), is our First Annual Quarterly Event.
Caregiver: A Love Story is the tale of one man struggling to care for his dying wife. When 59-year-old Bambi decides to forgo further treatment for her cancer and die at home, her husband Rick leaves his job to primary caregiver—a role for which he has no experience and little support.
This film highlights an essential, yet largely unseen workforce—the family caregivers of America, and challenges viewers to acknowledge the growing strain placed on them.
As nurses and care providers, we know intimately the strain of "caregiver burden". For many of our colleagues, it is real and challenging -- caring for patients, especially during this pandemic, then for many returning home to care for our own families.
The event is FREE with a suggested donation: $10-50 (optional)
Thank you to our co-sponsors: Rutger's Biomedical & Health Science, New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute (NJHCQI), Valley Medical Center, Norris McLaughlin, PA., Realty Executives, Exceptional Realtors.
